Unveiling the 16th ISB BGIC Theme

The theme this year is " Youths Call for More Sustainable Cities and Communities". This is in line with the United Nations SDG Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

More than 1 billion people continue to live in slum conditions despite substantial progress made to reduce such situations. Urgent action is needed to reverse the current situation, which sees the vast majority of urban residents breathing poor-quality air and having limited access to transport and open public spaces. With the areas occupied by cities growing faster than their populations, there are profound repercussions for sustainability.

Youths play an important role to mould the future cities and communities. More than one-third of the SDG’s targets involve youth explicitly or implicitly. It is time to drive change!

BGIC will be held on the 6th to 9th March 2020 at the International Convention Centre, Brunei.
